“On Saturday, the conference featured breakout sessions as well as ticketed events featuring Democratic candidates running for statewide offices and keynote speakers Christian F. Nunes, president of the National Organization for Women, and David Pepper, former chair of the Ohio Democratic Party.”
Christian Nunes, the president of the National Organization for Women, emphasized that abortion plays a crucial role in women’s healthcare. “We know with health disparities that they are only exacerbated by the multiple intersecting identities in our communities. Mifepristone has been a resource to narrow the gap in healthcare deserts. It creates access to care and saves lives from maternal mortality, especially for Black women, who we know in this country are still 3x more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women.”
“I feel like there’s racial inequality, there is discrimination. There is lack of access,” Nunes said. “We always talk about equality, equality, equality, but you cannot have equality if you do not have equity.” ~Christian F. Nunes, President of NOW
Christian F. Nunes, president of the National Organization for Women, said in a statement that cyberflashing is “a shocking and distressing experience. It is time to cover up the rebranded version of the trench coat flasher,” she said.
“It’s really important we look at this as a health equity issue,” said Christian F. Nunes, President of the National Organization for Women.
